Dr. Lawrence M. Schoen (known to many as "that klingonguy") is a lapsed academic turned SF author. But unlike most former professors who have become genre writers, his fiction isn't about black holes, biochemistry, or string theory. Back in 1987 he acquired his Ph.D. in cognitive psychology, and for the next ten years his research focused on the areas of human language and memory. No surprise then that you'll find similar themes pervading his fiction.

Back in 1991, he started on a path that has made him one of the world's foremost authorities on the Klingon language, an avocation that has taken him to seven countries across three continents, introduced him to some very cool people, and taken over large chunks of his life.

In 2007 he added the hats of editor and publisher by starting Paper Golem LLC, a speculative fiction small press.
